Southern Miss Recognized with National Panhellenic Achievement Award
The National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) recently recognized The University of Southern Mississippi’s College Panhellenic Council (CPC) with its Achievement Award. The NPC honored 39 of the entities across the country for their efforts to advance the sorority experience at their schools.
The award is based on a CPC meeting criteria that can include achievement in the areas of recruitment, Panhellenic structure, communication with NPC area advisor, judicial procedures, Panhellenic programming, academics and Panhellenic community impact and relations. USM’s CPC was one of only 12 across the country to earn the honor.
“NPC was founded to build cooperation among sororities on campus, and the 39 Panhellenic Associations recognized embody the idea that by working together, each individual chapter becomes stronger,” said Frances Mitchelson, Panhellenics chair.
The Southern Miss CPC is the governing body for the eight NPC sororities on campus, which include Alpha Chi Omega, Alpha Delta Pi, Chi Omega, Delta Delta Delta, Delta Gamma, Kappa Delta, Phi Mu and Pi Beta Phi. The CPC sets policies and regulations concerning the USM sorority community and coordinates several events on campus including educational programs/speakers, community service projects, Greek Week, and Formal Recruitment.
