The Children’s Center at Southern Miss Hosts Continuing Education Opportunities for Educators and Specialists

The Children’s Center for Communication and Development at The University of Southern Mississippi will host two continuing education opportunities for educators and early intervention specialists this fall.

“With a commitment to providing individualized therapy to meet each child’s need, the focus of these learning opportunities include real-world, practical information presented by Center staff and associates,” said director, Sarah Case-Price, MS, CCC-SLP. “We believe these opportunities will equip today’s professionals working in early intervention with more tools and concepts that are proven to work.”

Fall Symposium: Press Play – Explore and practice communication strategies that work!

Held on Friday, November 11, the Fall Symposium will focus on children with complex communication needs, who require multiple modes of communication to participate in essential learning opportunities. The whole child, including parent and family interactions, are pertinent to the programming and implementation of educational goals.

Participants will have an opportunity to learn from The Children’s Center’s specialized therapy team through reviewing video case studies, as well as through participating in active and collaborative dialogue.

Participants will have an opportunity to earn up to .7 continuing education units, available through the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and through The University of Southern Mississippi. Cost is $50, and participants can register by visiting https://bit.ly/tcc_pressplay.

For more than four decades, the mission of the Center has included the education and training of university students and professionals. The methods and approaches used at the Center are based on evolving industry methods and are considered best practices across the country.

“Our methods are evidence-based and come with years of experience. Both of these opportunities are affordable and will give participants tangible strategies to take back to their daily work environment – and be successful,” said Case-Price.
