LAUREL, Miss. – Oct. 31, 2025 – Today, golfers and supporters gathered at the Laurel Country Club for the South Central Health Care Foundation’s Holston Memorial Golf Tournament.
This tournament, which began as a Doctors’ Day Tournament in 1985, has evolved throughout recent years into a philanthropic effort to support SCRMC’s nonprofit, the South Central Health Care Foundation. This yearly fundraiser, in conjunction with other efforts, helps enable the foundation to continue offering patient screenings, health education opportunities and patient benevolence efforts to members of the community.
This year’s tournament was a success, with two flights of golfers and an exciting “After ParTee” event at 320 Fifth St., featuring the Boston, Massachusetts-based band the KR Show.
“The South Central Health Care Foundation is deeply grateful to the sponsors, participants and volunteers whose time, generosity and dedication make it possible for us to continue pouring back into the community,” said SCRMC Chief Administrative Officer, Samantha Andrus. “The proceeds from this year’s event are going toward our exciting Maternal Child Department renovation.”
Over the past five years, the dedicated staff at SCRMC has delivered more than 4,000 babies, and the needs of local families continue to expand. SCRMC is committed to meeting this growing need. Work is currently underway to reimagine the space where care begins for every mother, every baby and every child.
“We are so grateful to be the beneficiaries of this year’s tournament proceeds,” said Maternal Child Director Cynthia Bonner. “The Foundation is really going above and beyond to help us secure the funds to transform our 27,000 square foot unit into a beautiful place to care for mothers and babies.”
Thank you to all the players who participated in this year’s four-man scramble. Congratulations to the winning teams:
  • Morning flight winner: HealthSpring, Inc.
Team members: Chase Sims, Kyle Tillman, Mitch Herring and Justin Holifield
    Final score: 56 under par
  • Evening flight winner: Community Bank
Team members: Sawyer Taylor, Alex Gullett, Paul Read and Matt Arender
     Final Score: 58 under par
The Holston Memorial Golf Tournament would not be possible without the generous support of our sponsors: Community Bank; Edward Jones: Michael Cudworth; Howard Industries; Carr, Riggs & Ingram CPAs; Cadence Bank; First State Bank; Walters Construction Company; Covington County Hospital; Simpson General Hospital; Burson Entrekin Orr Mitchell & Lacey, PA; Mainspace Office Solutions; Stokes Distributing Company, Inc.; B&R Industrial Supply; Cask and Barrel; Cintas; Performance Food Group; Tal Construction; Kim’s No Bull; Howards Concrete; Reapplix; Imperial Dade; Health Systems Informatics Corporation, APAC Mississippi, Inc.; Rustin Waste Services, Holt & Associates, PLLC; Gentiva Hospice and Coca-Cola Bottling Company.
In addition to the Holston Memorial Golf Tournament, the South Central Health Care Foundation is also hosting a clay shoot on Nov. 7, and various other fundraising events throughout the year. Monetary donations to the foundation, however, are accepted at any time. To sign up for upcoming fundraisers or to donate to the foundation, please visit scrmc.com/foundation.
