JACKSON – An inmate serving life at the South Mississippi Correctional Institution for two sex crimes has died.
Timothy Wayn Walters, 61, was pronounced dead today at Wesley Medical Center in Hattiesburg. Walters, MDOC #82859, pleaded guilty on August 30, 1993, to rape and sexual assault in Jones County.
The cause and the manner of death are pending an autopsy, and the determinations are made by local coroners—independent of MDOC.
