On Sunday, September 3, 2023, at approximately 11:47 AM, the Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to a fatal crash on Highway 49 in Hinds County.
At 2022 Chrysler Pacifica driven by 51-year-old Robert L. Shorter of Shelby. MS traveled south on Highway 49 when the vehicle left the roadway and overturned. Robert L. Shorter received fatal injuries from the crash and was pronounced dead on the scene.
This crash remains under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
