Simpson’s softball team has become the Comeback Queens with two come from behind walk off wins in the Overall State AAAA MAIS Tournament. The Lady Cougars had a walk off win against Copiah on Saturday 3-2. The Lady Cougars saved their best for last, trailing 7-1 against Oak Forest the Lady Cougars roared back to take a walk off 9-8 win. The Lady Cougars will play Jackson Prep on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at the Jimmy Clyde Sportsplex in the first game of the best of three series and will play at Jackson Prep on Saturday starting at 2:00 p.m.

 

Madison-Ridgeland Academy
Simpson 11 MRA 1-Getting hits for Simpson were Abigail Carter with a double and a single; Bella Luckey two singles and 2 RBI’s; Leah Beth Luckey a triple, a single, and 3 RBI’s; Bailey Sartin a double, a single, and 2 RBI’s; Marlee Dampeer a triple and 2 RBI’s; Morgan Griffith a single and an RBI; and Maddie Moody a single.
Pitching for Simpson were Morgan Griffith 4.1 innings and Bailey Sartin .2 of an inning with 1 strikeout. The win improved Simpson’s record to 26-6 on the season.

Simpson 3 Copiah 2-Getting hits for Simpson were Allison Richardson a double, a single, and an RBI; Kristin Busby a single and a walk off sac fly RBI; Marlee Dampeer a single; Morgan Griffith a single; Bella Luckey a double; Leah Beth Luckey a single; Maddie Moody a single and an RBI; and Bailey Sartin a single.
Pitching for Simpson was Bella Luckey 7 innings with 1 strikeout. The win improved Simpson’s record to 27-6 on the season.

 

Jackson Prep
Jackson Prep 10 Simpson 5-Getting hits for Simpson were Leah Beth Luckey with a double, a single, and 2 RBI’s; Maddie Moody two doubles and an RBI; Morgan Griffith a single and an RBI; and Marlee Dampeer an RBI.
Pitching for Simpson were Morgan Griffith 4.1 innings with 3 strikeouts and Bailey Sartin 1.2 innings. The loss dropped Simpson’s record to 27-7.

 

Oak Forest Academy
Simpson 9 Oak Forest 8-Getting hits for Simpson were Maddie Moody a triple, a single, and an RBI; Kristin Busby a single; Marlee Dampeer a single; Morgan Griffith a single; Bella Luckey a double and an RBI; Leah Beth Luckey a single and a walk off sac fly RBI; Allison Richardson a single and an RBI; and Bailey Sartin a single.
Pitching for Simpson was Bella Luckey 7 innings with 4 strikeouts. The win improved Simpson’s record to 28-7.
