Simpson Academy’s Lily Overby finished first in gold division of the Mississippi College Watson Classic Cross Country Meet on Saturday, October 19, 2024, with a time of 17:53.
Overby is only the second female runner to complete the course in under 18 minutes. Her time was a personal record as well as Overby shaved 31 seconds off her fastest time on Saturday.
The boys’ team, led by Jayden Smith who placed 4th overall, finished second in the blue division.
The team will host a final meet before the state championship on Tuesday, October 22 at Neely Farms in Magee. The MAIS Overall State Cross Country Meet will be held at Mississippi College’s Choctaw Trails on Monday, October 28.
