ELLISVILLE- Jones County Junior College’s Maroon Typhoon Marching Band has a colorful and glamorous show planned for Bobcat football fans this season. With musical selections from 1980’s R&B artist, Prince and recent hits from the flamboyant Lady Gaga, band members, dancers and colorguard members are enjoying the flashy costumes and challenging music.
Visually, the color purple will be dominant on the field this year. The Maroon Typhoon will entwine the rhythm and blues hits songs from Prince’s “Purple Rain,” “Doves Cry,” and “I Would Die 4 U,” and the song, “The Glamorous Life,” which Prince co-produced with Sheila E. Add the glitzy Lady Gaga hits, “Bad Romance” and “I Live for the Applause” and the audience will enjoy a perfect mix of modern and old-school glam and “jams.”
The first home football game when the JCJC marching band will perform is on Saturday, September 7, at 7 p.m. The annual Hall of Fame game will see the JCJC Bobcats hosting the Mississippi Delta Trojans. The Maroon Typhoon will also be performing on Thursday, September 21 during halftime when the Bobcats host the Co-Lin Wolves and two games in October, Thursday, October 5, and at Homecoming, Saturday, October 21.
