The Simpson Academy Boys Track Team claimed the MAIS AAAA Division 2 State Championship on Saturday, May 4 at Jackson Prep.  The team edged out Pillow Academy by only one point.

In addition to the boys’ team, members of both the girls’ and boys’ teams took home individual state titles, as well as championships in relay races.

Girls 4 x 400 Meter Relay State Champions: Chloe Shomon, Emma Overstreet, Carson Carter and Lauren Teater.
Bryce Caughman: State Champion in 100 Meters and 200 Meters
Cooper Carrico: State Champion, 110 Meter High Hurdles, and Thomas Pepper: 2nd Place, 110 Meter High Hurdles
Carson Carter: State Champion, 400 Meters
4 x 100 Meter Relay and 4 x 200 Meter Relay State Champions: Bryce Caughman, Michael Winstead, Joseph Berry and Carter Cockrell
TK Catchings: State Champion, Shot Put and Discus
Brothers Daniel and Thomas Pepper finished 1st and 2nd respectively in the shot put and discus.
Joseph Berry: State Champion, Triple Jump
Emma Overstreet: 3rd Place, 100 Meter Hurdles
Drew Williams: 3rd, 1600 Meters
Joseph Berry: 2nd Place, 400 Meters
Lauren Teater and Avery Crain placed 2nd and 4th respectively in the 200 Meters.
Avery Crain, Lauren Teater, Chloe Shomon, and Ma’Nia Womack placed 2nd in the 4 x 100 Meter Relay.
Cameron Bishop, Carson Carter, Mary Margaret White and Emma Overstreet placed 2nd in the 4 x 800 Meter Relay.
Chloe Shomon and Emma Overstreet placed 3rd and 4th in the 300 Meter Hurdles respectively.

Not Pictured:

  • The 4 x 200 Meter Relay Team made up of Avery Crain, Carson Carter, Lauren Teater and Ma’Nia Womack placed 3rd.
  • Joseph Berry, Noah Overstreet, Drew Williams and Bryce Caughman placed 2nd in the 4 x 400 Meter Relay.
