Simpson Shines at MAIS 5A State Track Meet

The Simpson Academy Track Team stood out at the MAIS 5 AState Track meet on Friday and Saturday at Jackson Prep.

Lilly Overby and Layla Warren placed 1st and 2nd respectively in the 3200m run.

Sophomore Lilly Overby set two new MAIS records, winning the 1600m run with a time of 5:18.29 and the 3200m run with a time of 11:24. She was followed by her teammate Layla Warren, who placed second in both races.

Oveby also won the 800m run.

The Simpson girls also brought home the state championship in the 4x800m relay. Overby and Warren were joined by Senior Kinsley Welch and 6th Grader Izzy Craft in the 4 x 800 relay.

Chance Funchess also brought home the gold, winning the high jump with a height of 6’4″.
