The Girls’ Simpson Cross Country Team proved the power of pack running when they finished with a perfect team score at the Forerunner River Run on Thursday, October 7, 2021, in Petal.
The teams score was 15, and the top five finishers were:
- Lilly Overby (21:29.18 )
- Caroline McAlpin (21:33.95)
- Kinsley Welch (21:48.62)
- Emma Overstreet (22:02.56)
- Carson Carter (22:42.96).
The rest of the Lady Cougars finished well with the following times:
- Cameron Bishop – 23:57.68
- Sophie Grubbs – 24:30.90
- Jami Bishop – 25:59.36
- Mary Madelyn Grubbs – 26:21.14
- Callie Grace Clayburn – 31:49.45.
The boys’ team also performed well with a third place finish. The team was led by Denver Carter and Jayden Smith, who placed 5th and 9th respectively. 6th Grader Parker Payne placed 11th overall.
The team’s season will continue Tuesday, October 12 at Columbia Academy.
