Simpson Cross Country Wins Forerunner River Run with Perfect Score

The Girls’ Simpson Cross Country Team proved the power of pack running when they finished with a perfect team score at the Forerunner River Run on Thursday, October 7, 2021, in Petal.

Left to Right: Emma Overstreet, 4th Place; Caroline McAlpin, 2nd Place; Lilly Overby, 1st Place; Kinsley Welch, 3rd Place; and Carson Carter, 5th Place.

The teams score was 15, and the top five finishers were:

  1. Lilly Overby (21:29.18 )
  2. Caroline McAlpin (21:33.95)
  3. Kinsley Welch (21:48.62)
  4. Emma Overstreet (22:02.56)
  5. Carson Carter (22:42.96).

The boys’ team also performed well with a third place finish.  The team was led by Denver Carter and Jayden Smith, who placed 5th and 9th respectively. 6th Grader Parker Payne placed 11th overall.

The team’s season will continue Tuesday, October 12 at Columbia Academy.
