Simpson County Technical Center Hosts more than 700 Students for CTE Month
Simpson County Technical Center (SCTC) recently hosted more than 700 students for tours of its facility in celebration of Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month.
Recognized during the month of February, CTE Month brings awareness to the significance, value and achievements of CTE programs across the country.
For CTE Month, SCTC gave tours of its facility to hundreds of middle- and high-school aged students from Simpson County School District and Simpson Academy. Students met with SCTC Director George Huffman and program instructors and learned about the various programs the center has to offer. For students who were unable to attend a tour, SCTC also traveled to Magee and Mendenhall High School to give presentations.
“The message we want all of our students to know is that Career and Technical Education is a pathway to a brighter future,” said Dr. Huffman. “When students graduate and leave high school we want them to be able to go somewhere and do something. What we have to offer them are skills that they can carry with them for a lifetime.”
SCTC currently offers eight two-year career pathway programs to include agriculture and natural resources, health information technology, polymer science, health science, construction/carpentry, law and public safety, diesel service technician, and metal fabrication.
