Oh wow!!! Isn’t this news awesome!  Our Sheriff Department, under the guidance of Donald O’Cain, placed 2nd in the STATE for the Inmate Litter Program.

The Sheriff Department also picked up the 2nd highest amount of litter in the State!

On the down side…why have we got so much litter to pick up??? Could it be WE are throwing “junk” out of our cars or when we walk along the road???

I am proud of our Simpson County Sheriff Department but sad that we as residents of Simpson County  are littering the roads.

The state spends more than 3 million dollars on litter pickup!

The Inmate Litter program does not cost the county any money…paid for by the state; therefore, the money still comes out of tax payers’ pockets!

I know in town where I live, I must address the litter issue at least 3 times a week…people walking by the side of my house…just thrown their trash right on the sidewalk or side of the road….I’ve watched many cars pass with windows down and fast food being “chunked” onto the road.

Let’s make a New Year’s Resolution not to litter.  Let’s take pride in our city, pride in our county, and pride in our state.
