Simpson County School District Holds Reverse Auction

Simpson County School District held a reverse auction Friday, June 14, 2019. Southern Procurement of Mississippi, Vaughn Blaylock, conducted the auction.

Three auctions were held for area projects.

First one was for Bus Barn Relocation from Mendenhall to Magee site. Powell Construction was the lowest bid at $81,000. David Smith Construction submitted a bid at a price of $225,000. The school board accepted and approved the low bid from Powell Construction.

A second auction was held for resurfacing of the parking lot at Mendenhall High School.

One bid was received from J and L Enterprises for an amount of $211,216.00. The school board was advised this was a fair price and board approved the bid.

A third auction was held for replacing roof at the Simpson County Technical Center. This auction brought action into a bidding war between two vendors.

Norman Enterprises DBA as Norman Roofing was awarded the low bid by the board in the amount of $124,999.99. Another bid was placed by R & R Sheet Metal Incorporated in the amount of $125,000.

With the school boards approval work should start immediately.
