Simpson County School Board met Thursday, October 10, 2019 for their regular scheduled meeting.

The Bailey Education Group met giving the board an update on finding after inspecting property located in Simpson County School District. The Bailey Group will have three community meeting to see what the public has to say about the surrounding schools and consolidation.

September minutes were approved as well as the claims docket.

Principals from each school in the district met before the board and discuss the state accountability results. Simpson County School district improved a grade letter from D to C. Every elementary school in Simpson County is a B level school.

J H & H Architects met before the board presenting the cheapest and best bid for the Magee High School Field House. The board voted to approve Barnard and Sons as the lowest and best bid. Construction should start soon.

The following Travel agenda was approved by the board.

April Williams requests permission to attend MS Counseling Association Conference, November 6-8, 2019 in Biloxi, MS.
Trip is paid for with District Funds
Brenda White requests permission to attend the MS Nurse’s Association Conference, October 22-24, 2019 in Biloxi, MS
Trip is paid for with district Funds
Victoria Cox, Beth McGuire, Jennifer Walker, Lindsey Robinson, Tim Shelton, Vicki Parker, Amanda Tindell, and Kayla Jenkins request permission to attend the MS Science Teachers Conference, October 27-29, 2019 in Biloxi, MS.
Trip is funded with Federal Funds
Cullen McBride requests permission to attend MS Bandmasters All State Clinic, December 11-14, 2019 in Natchez, MS
Trip is funded by Band Boosters
Crystal Brewer requests permission to attend ASCA Mid-Year Leadership Development Institute and Maine School Counselor Association, November 13-15th and November 21-22, 2019.

Mrs. Brewer is on the ASCA Board of Directors.  The American School Counselor Association pays all expenses.

 

With no further business meeting went into executive session to discuss student discipline.
