First order of business during the Simpson County School Board was to elect new officers.  The board acknowledge the election and postpone voting to the next meeting due to the absence of Linda Curlee and Sammy Welch.  Sammy was out due to recovering from an automobile accident the previous week. The board acknowledge his injuries and recovery and remembered him in prayer.

On the Consent Agenda approval was given for Stephanie Kennedy to attend Focus on Finance, January 25-26, 2018 in Memphis, TN.  This is at no cost to the district.

Approval was given for Crystal Brewer and Dr. Antoinette Woodall to attend ASCA School Counselor of the Year Events  January 31- February 2, 2017 in Washing D.C. This is at no cost tot he district.

Approval was given to Donny Cokern to attend “train the Trainer” training for RCU methods, January 17-18, 2018 in Starkvillle, Ms. This is at no cost to the district.

Ms. Elizabeth Christian, Human Resources, present the retirement/resignation of Charlotte Mangun, Receptionist, at the District Office effective 12/31/2017. Ms Mangum had 41 years of service with Simpson County School District.

The resignation of Charley Rahaim, Social Studies/Coach, at Mendenhall high School effective 12/15/2017.

Resignation was accepted fro, Eddie McInnis, Bus Driver, at Magee High School effective 12/31/2017.

Approval to hire Patricia Braddock as an Agricultural Teacher, replacing Joshua Coleman, at the Vocational Technical Center effective 01/08/2018 – 05/23/2018 was given.

In sixteen section matters the board approved to return a performance bond on S16 13 to Southern Timber for $4800.00.  Original bond was for $5000.00 but loggers accessed a fee of $200 for damages not completed at end of job.

No further business meeting was adjourned until next schedule meeting on February 8, 2018.
