Simpson County Board of Supervisors met Friday, July 15, 2016 for their regular scheduled meeting.

Meeting was called to order by President, Randy Moore.

Ben Warren, Road Manager, gave his monthly report for approval.

  1. Easement/ Pamela Floyd/ Ditch dirt, and fixing drainage problems,
  2. Easement/ Azelan Skiffer/ Ditch Dirt.
  3. Easement/Andy Sutton/Cutting Trees from R.O.W.
  4. Easement/ Plumber Jones/ fixing Water Drainage from road.
  5. Easement/Phillip Blackwell/ cut dead tree.

Donald O’Cain, Sheriff, approached board for approval.

  1. Send 2 dispatchers for recertification at Richland cost $225.00 each
  2. Hire 4 part time detention officers.
  3. Accept Halo (drug dog) and EJ McRay for training with Hub city for 2 weeks.  Cost $3000.00
  4. Send two officers to DUI class.
  5. Close out 2015 grant and write a check to department of public safety for person who did not attend class reimbursement $1500.00
  6. Apply for 2017 DIU grant and need signature.

Tommy Joe Harvey, Chancery Clerk – needed approval for the Homestead chargeback’s.

Rhuel Dickinson, County Administrator, presented his report to the board as follows:

  1. Adopt an order to approve the Claims Docket of July 15, 2016 in the amount of $6,83,763.59 and the electronic payment claim for VISA in teh amount of $4,904.43.
  2. Authorize the June 2016 Completed Claims Docket to made a part of the minutes and for the board president to sign.
  3. Approve the Financial Reports and Solid Waste Reports for the month of June 2016, as presented by the County Administrator.
  4. Consider the Road Department Tow Case Backhoe Loader. The lease has expired. JWH Equipment will honor the buyback with repairs and replacements of tires.
  5. Approve the renewal of the Extended Warranty for the Live Scan unit and Finger Pro Software for two years for 3-31-2016 through 3-21-2018 for $3,000.00. This includes a discount formt he $1,795.00 single year price.
  6. Approve the board order to disburse the 2016 Fire Insurance Rebate Funds to the county volunteer fire department in the amount of $18,105.84 each.
  7. Approve the Board order to disburse the 2015 Fire insurance Code Enforcement Funds to the couty volunteer fire departments in the amount of $485.12 each.
  8. Approve the burial of three cows struck by lightning on July 11, 2016, for Mark Wolkens at 925 Hwy 43, Mendenhall as recommended by Leaf River Veterinary Services to prevent the spread of disease.
  9. Approve the renewal of the Delta Computer System, Inc. Computer Software support agreements for the County system software for the fiscal year 2017.
  10. Consider the purchase off two commercial dryers for the fail with the lowest quotation form Laundry South for &,604.00 from the Inmate Canteen Fund. As an alternative, repairs to the five year old old dryers will cost $3,901.96. Other quotes were form Pellerin for $8,940.00 and Donqieuxs for $10,384.00
  11. Approve the purchase of a commercial washer and dryer fro the State Inmate Trustee hall with the lowest quotation from Landry South for $9,720.00 from the Inmate Canteen Fund. Other quotes were from Pellerin for $9,735.00 and Donqieuxs for $12,570.00.
  12. Approve the letter to MDOT for improved signage on Cooper Road at the curve at George Turner Road.
  13. Ratify the purchase of food and drinks for the feeding of law enforcement officers from various agencies helping with the apprehension of the escaped inmates.
  14. Approve Advertising County Resources by promoting the 11 year old Mendenhall/Puckett Team to the Dixie Youth Wold Series.
  15. Approve the renewal of membership dues for 2016-2017 for Kim Jackson, Joyce Hicks, Brandy Shepherd, and Theja Abernathy in the Mississippi Justice Court clerks Association in the total amount of $300.00
  16. Approve applicable travel, meals, lodging, registration and mileage expenses for :
    1. Kim Jackson to attend the 2016 Justice Court clerk Association Conference in Biloxi, Ms.
  17. Acknowledge and record int eh board minutes:
    1. D’Lo Water Park Dialy Recap report for May, 2016
    2. D’Lo Water Park Daily Recap report for June 2016

No further business meeting was adjourned.
