President Brian Kennedy called the meeting to order followed by prayer.

Sheriff Donald O’Cain reported the hiring of part-time deputy Shame Brown; moving Amanda Weathersby from full-time non certified to full-time certified dispatcher; hiring full-time dispatcher Angie Fortenberry; hiring part-time certified detention officer Michael Brent; hiring part-time Non-Certified Office Cedrick Crosby and Stacey Keys. Billy Seghini will attend Criminal Drug Interdiction Techniques and Concealment class at the Richland Police Department on July 16, 17, and 18th at a cost of $325.00

The Sheriff discussed the recent dog bite case in the county and expressed his concern for the 3 year old who was involved. (See more). O’Cain distributed the animal control policy for Rankin County. The Sheriff expressed the request from County residents for an animal control ordinance. The Supervisors will study the Rankin County Animal policy as well as others in research to establish an ordinance for Simpson County.

Chancery Clerk Tommy Joe Harvey discussed several Simpson County School Board leases. The leases were approved.

The County administrative office proposed the following:
1. Adopt an Order to approve the Claims Docket of June 18, 2018 in the amount of $373,562.49 and the electronic payment claim for VISA in the amount of $2,587.68
2. Ratify the claims docket of June 12, 2018 for payment of election workers in the amount of $24,115.50. (The amount reflects the cost of an election in our county).
3. Authorize the May 2018 Completed Claims Docket to be made a part of the minutes and for the Board President to sign
4. Approve the Financial Reports and Solid Waste Reports for the Month of May 2018 as presented by the County Administrator.
5. Authorize the continued extension of the Emergency Order for Bridge Repairs
6. Approve the extended warranty of AD&S for the LiveScan fingerprinting unit at the Jail in the amount of $3,000 for 2 years
7. (Note). A purchase order was issued to Deep South Fire Trucks for the Piola Volunteer Fire Department for a Class A mini-pumper on State Contract #8200025803 for $156,650 of which $130,000 of county fire funds will be used with the Pinola VFD paying the remainder
8. Approve the rate increase for Terminix to $35 per quarter up from. $25
9. Approve the payroll authorization form for Christy Scrabrough hired by the Circuit Clerk to work part-time at the same rate as the tax office part-time personnel.
10. Approve applicable travel, meals, lodging, registration, and expense (name not listed)

Runoff election for Federal Primary Election on June 26, 2018
Governor Bryant has set a special election to fill the vacancy for the seat formerly held by Andy Gipson for House District 77 for July 10, 2018 with a runoff if needed on July 31, 2018
The mid-July Board of Supervisors meeting and claims docket will be on July 16, 2018
NACO Conference in Nashville will be on July 13-16, 2018

Louis Carter and Troy Mack came before the board to express their thanks for the improvements made in their district.

Following adjournment, Mike Davis, Executive Director of the Pearl River Basin Development District presented Pat Brown a plaque in appreciation of his 18 years of service to the now dissolved agency. A plaque honoring the late Hugh Jack Stubbs was presented to Danny Welch, who will give the plaque to the family. Hugh Jack worked with the agency for 33 years.  (More)
