The Simpson County Bicentennial Committee is selling commemorative blankets featuring many historic landmarks and communities. The blanket is blue with gold detailing and sells for $99. Orders must be placed by June 15 for July 4 delivery. You can order online or print an order form here.

Landmarks featured on the blanket include the Simpson County Courthouse, the Magee Community House, the Pinola Auditorium, the Braxton Depot, Sanatorium, the Fink-Bine Lumber Company, the Revolving Tables, the Westville Cemetery, the Grist Mill at Rials Creek, and the Jaynes Bridge. D’Lo’s World War II Veterans are also featured, as the small community sent more men to fight per capita than any other place in the United States.

Names of the counties’ various communities are woven around the border of the blanket.

Local artist Maggie Seghini volunteered to draw each of the landmarks for use on the blanket.

Pre-orders of the blankets are being taken now, and the first deadline to order is June 15 with delivery expected at the 4th of July Bicentennial Celebration.
