Claude Courtney from Active Health Management met with staff members from the Simpson County Achievement Center on November 15, 2016. The topic Courtney discussed included staying fit on a budget, using foods you love to build nutritious meals, and the nutritional value of fruits and vegetables. Courtney also discussed the percentage of income that we spend on eating out and fast foods as well as the importance of including exercise in our daily routine and getting 7-9 hours of sleep each night. Courtney stressed the cost of being fit verses the cost of healthcare from a lack of fitness. He also talked with the staff about Tobacco free living, keeping food diaries to see how much healthy food we eat, how much food we consume that is not as healthy, and the cost of each. Other topics included coupon clipping to save money as well as many new apps that were available to save us money and help us to eat healthy on a budget.
