The following students from Simpson Central were selected to compete in the annual Co-Lin math competition in Wesson, MS. Each of them were ranked in the top 10 among their grade level with over 40 competing schools surrounding the district after taking a comprehensive math exam including number sense, statistics, algebra, and geometry skills. Kimberly Holifield ranked 3rd and Megan Sims ranked 6th out of 64 eighth graders. Raegan Bramlett and Harleigh Abernathy tied 6th out of 66 seventh graders. The students were selected to compete based on taking a localized test and ranking in the top two at their school by their math teacher, Kristy Thurman.  Mrs. Thurman states, “I am very proud of these girls, and the success they had at the competition. When I set high expectations, they’re always up for the challenge.” The students not only spent the day competing, but also enjoyed various STEM activities.
