The Simpson Academy offense started a little slow on Friday night against Park Place Christian, but soon found its stride.  Park place took an early 7-0 lead on a 5 yard touchdown pass. The Cougars went scoreless in the first quarter. Then things began to click. Simpson proceeded to score 6 unanswered touchdowns.

In the 2nd quarter, Brentley Berry scored on a 4 yard run that was followed by a 3 yard run and a 2 yard run by Carter Cockrell. The Cougars led 22-7 at the half.

The second half proved to be much of the same. Cockrell scored on runs of 31 yards and 1 yard, consecutively. Then with 2:53 left in the 3rd, Bryson Franklin broke loose on a 40 yard scamper for his first touchdown of the season. SCA ended the 3rd quarter up 43-7.

Early in the 4th, Park Place poked one in on a 1 yard run. However, Simpson’s Colby Womack quickly responded with a 65 yard run of his own for his 1st touchdown of the season. The final score was Simpson Academy over Park Place, 50-14.

#32-Matt Adcock; #70-Crosby Mullins Brentley Berry finished the night 7-10 for a 102 yards in the air and 20 yards and a touchdown on the ground. Carter Cockrell tallied 30 carries for 260 yards and 4 touchdowns. Chanse Funchess also had 5 catches for 79 yards.
#2-Carter Cockrell; #1-Brentley Berry; #56-Garrison Ashley; #53-Ashton Wood; #52-Trey Eubanks; and #70 Crosby MullinsSawyer Dunn was 6-6 on extra points and had an interception. Defensively the Cougars were led by Matt Adcock with 4.5 tackles and Colby Womack with 4 tackles.

The Cougars will have Homecoming this Friday night against Columbia Academy at 7:00.
