Fans were treated to a Cougar-versus-Cougar matchup on Friday night, but Simpson Academy came up short, falling to Columbia Academy 48-14. The loss was particularly tough for Simpson, marking their fifty-sixth Homecoming game.

Leading Columbia to victory were Bentley Myers and Noah Fortenberry. Myers rushed for 114 yards and one touchdown on just nine carries, while Fortenberry threw for 160 yards and four touchdowns on only 11 passes. That rushing total was Myers’ highest since September 2024. Carson Stuart also contributed, converting an interception into a touchdown.

With the loss, Simpson Academy drops to 1-2 on the season. Columbia Academy, meanwhile, improves to 3-0 after notching its third straight victory.

Both teams will face road challenges in their next contests. Simpson Academy will take on Wayne Academy at 7:00 p.m. Friday, while Columbia Academy will battle Oak Forest Academy at 7:00 p.m. Friday.
