On Wednesday June 10, 2020 at approximately 12:42pm, Magee Police Department was notified of a shooting at “Love’s” in Magee. Upon Officers arrival a man was found lying on the ground with what appeared to be a gunshot to the chest area. The injured man was identified as 24-year-old Toraz Westbrook of Florence, MS. Westbrook was airlifted to UMMC in Jackson, MS and remains in critical condition. Witnesses stated that the shooter had fled the scene but his girlfriend was there. She was identified as 18-year-old Haley Mulkey of Mendenhall, MS. The suspected shooter was apprehended moments later by the Simpson County Sheriff’s Dept. He was identified as 24-year-old Deangelo L. McClain of D’Lo, MS. Mr. McClain has been charged with “Aggravated Assault”. Ms. Mulkey has been charged with “Accessory After the Fact of Aggravated Assault”. Municipal Judge Reggie Blackledge set bond for both McClain and Mulkey in the amount of $50,000 each. Both suspects remain in custody of the Magee Police Department at this time.
