Shirley Mae Stewart Thames
(October 18, 1936 – December 28, 2021)

Shirley Mae Stewart Thames, 85 of Magee, Mississippi, passed away from her earthly home to her heavenly home on Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born Sunday, October 18, 1936, in Mount Olive, Mississippi.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 30, 2021, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home at 302 8th Ave SW, Magee, Mississippi.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 31, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home. Special music will be provided by Mrs. Rene Craft. The burial will follow in Magee City Cemetery in Magee, Mississippi. Brother Donnie Guy and Brother Bill Blair will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee is in charge of arrangements. 601-849-5031

Mrs. Shirley was a member of Coat Baptist Church of Magee, Mississippi.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister and friend.   Her hobbies included baking, doing crossword puzzles, watching movies, studying the Bible, and spending time with her family and friends. She loved to take care of others and she spent her life doing so.  She will be greatly missed by her loving family and friends.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Halbert Thames; son, Mickey Harold Thames; grandson, Tod Bishop; father, Barney Stewart; mother, Cordya Tuggle Stewart; brother, Grady Stewart; and sisters, Jewel Roberts and Joy Stewart.

Survivors include her loving children, Tim Thames (Kim) of Magee, MS, and Robbin Thames Bishop (Billy) of Magee, MS;  grandchildren, Courtney Bishop of Magee, MS, Brandon Thames (Natalie) of Gretna, LA, and Lacey Thames of Magee, MS; great-grandchildren, Triston Roberts of IL, Kylie Roberts of OK, Laurel Beasley of LA, Kyson Bishop of Magee, MS, and Carson Thames of LA; sister, Jessie Stewart Shorter of Braxton, MS; sister-in-law, Vertress Stewart Smith of Brookhaven, MS; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Pallbearers will be Triston Roberts, Dewayne Green, Lyle Stewart, Lannie Stewart, Billy Blair, and Joey Roberts.
