Shirley Gibson Maddox was named Spirit of Magee at Tuesday nights Magee Chamber of Commerce Banquet.  Ashley Jones introduced Shirley with a “trail” of clues.  Spirit of Magee and Outstanding are kept a secret until the night of the banquet.  Shirley was recognized for the outstanding work she has done in her church, Goodwater Baptist Church, as the founder of Christian Women’s Job Corp in Simpson County, and her development of a sub-division in Simpson County.  Several members of Shirley’s family were present for the surprise award.

Donna Martin had the pleasure of surprising Suzy Thames for her selection as Outstanding Citizen.  As Donna said, there just isn’t anything in Magee that she has not volunteered with!  Suzy works tirelessly to assist any worthy cause in our area.
