Prayers for the family of Shelly Mathis. Shelly died today after a 4 month illness, Shelly is the daughter of Mike Mathis and the late Janice Mathis. She was a graduate of Magee High School and was only 47 years old. I thought Shelly’s niece, Lacey Thames, said it best…with permission from Lacey…I am posting her words from Face Book…
“4 months ago I was serving on a mission trip in Honduras when I touched down in the states and got the phone call from my daddy that my aunt had a fungal infection that had gone to her brain and was undergoing brain surgery. I never knew how hard these 4 months would be for my family. I cherish the memories I have with my sweet aunt, she told me I was the baby she never had. Even in her last days the nurses talked about how she would light up when I walked in the room and that is what I hold on to. This morning she went to heaven. I’m so thankful she isn’t hurting anymore but the heart of our family will forever be missed. Please be in prayer for my momma, uncle, grandfather, and the rest of my family as we face these rough days together. Thank you to everyone who has already called, send food, and checked on us we love yall.”
Visitation will be Tuesday 5-8 and the funeral is Wednesday at 1 at Tutor Funeral Home.
