Magee High School is bringing their students into the community to learn! Students completing their junior year are, by choice, participating in a program learning about a business or career up close and personal! The students spend time with their mentor learning the ropes of their business.
The internship last at least a year…and can often turn into a job!
Mrs. Louise Coleman of Magee High School is the anchor of the program. She counsels with the students and matches their interest to a business.
Chase McWilliams and Taelyn Carpenter are participating in shadowing at City Hall. Penny Aguirre manages the interns. Penny took Chase and Taelyn on a tour of city buildings/businesses. Taelyn and Chase visited the jail and met Chief Borges as well as other officers. The two received an introduction to all employees at City Hall. Plans are to visit the Library, Fire Department, Civic Center, Community House, as well as the public works and rec departments.
If you feel this program is something your child or grandchild would enjoy, contact Mrs. Coleman at Magee High School. It may be too late…but always worth a try!
