Magee defeated Crystal Springs by a score of 56-10 Thursday, October 28, 2021 at home.
Senior recognition was held pre-game. All seniors served as captains for the evening.
Crystal Springs won the coin toss and deferred the ball until second half and kicked off to Magee to start the game. #7 DeMichael Green for Magee returns the ball to the 47-yard line of Magee. During the possession Magee would fumble and Crystal Springs takes over on the 44-yard line.
A big run by the Tigers #2 Daniels delivers the ball to the Magee 25-yard line. Crystal Springs completes a 20-yard to the Magee 5-yard line and first and goal. Magee held the Tigers and forced a field goal attempt that was good. Magee was down by 3 points.
On the kickoff Magee’s #7 Green has another great return to the Crystal Springs 45-yard line. #23 Jawon Shaw for Magee picked up the first down and later scores on a 34-yard touchdown run with 6:13 left on the clock in the first quarter. #21 Gavyn Chafin’s point after attempt was good. Magee goes on top by a score of 7-3.
After the kickoff Crystal Springs would start on their own 30-yard line. Magee’s defense would cause a fumble and Magee would take over on the 28-yard line. #25 Braeden Gregory had a 26-yard carry to the one-yard line. Next play #13 James Floyd for Magee would punch the ball in to score with 4:13 left in the first quarter. The point after attempt by Chafin was good. Magee increases their lead by a score of 14-3.
Crystal Springs continued to struggle when they would fumble on the kickoff with a big hit by #38 Eathan Robinson for Magee. A beautiful pass by #3 Tristen Newsome connected with #6 Kyerston Tucker for a 33-yard touchdown with 4:14 left in the first quarter. # 21 Chafin’s point after attempt was good. Magee led by a score of 21-3.
Magee kicked off to Crystal Springs and the Tigers would start from their own 20-yard line. Magee defense would come up big with a pick six from #1 Jody Durr for the Trojans with 4:01 left in the first quarter. The point after attempt was good. Magee led by a score of 28-3.
After kickoff the Tigers started from their own 45-yard line. #1 Durr continued to dominate with a fumble recovery for the Trojans on the Crystal Springs 25-yard line. Outstanding carries from #25 Gregory and #23 Shaw set Magee up at 1st and goal. #23 Shaw finishes drive with a touchdown with 2:20 left in the first quarter. The point after attempt was good and Magee led by a score of 35-3.
Second quarter Crystal Springs was forced to punt. Magee takes over the ball on their own 34-yard line. Magee scored on a beautiful 45-yard spiral by #3 Newsome to #7 Green. The point after attempt was good. Magee on top by a score of 42-3.
Tigers take over on their own 45-yard line. Magee’s defense stops the Tigers forcing a punt. Magee takes over on the Tigers 40-yard line. Flags on the play wiped out a 40-yard rushing touchdown by Gregory due to holding on the Trojans. Magee bounced right back and scored when #15 DQ Levy crossed the goal line on a 38-yard touchdown reception. Newsome was spot on for the evening. The point after attempt by Chafin was good. Magee’s lead increased by a score of 49-3 with 8:10 left in the half.
Crystal Springs would start from their own 37-yard line. Magee’s defense causes another big play with a fumble recovery on the Tigers 36-yard line.
#19 Banks Teater advanced the ball to the 20-yard line. #25 Gregory scored on a rushing touchdown. The point after attempt was good. Magee leads by a score of 56-3 with 5:42 left in the half.
Magee headed to the locker room at half winning by a score of 56-3.
Magee would kick off to Crystal Springs to start the second half. Crystal Spring was not able to produce and was forced to punt. Magee took over on downs the at the Tigers 45-yard line. Trojans were forced to punt for the first time of the evening.
Late in the fourth quarter Magee fumbled and Crystal Springs returned the ball for a touchdown. The point after attempt was no good but the Trojans was flagged for roughing the kicker. Tigers attempted the point after attempt again and was successful. The score was Magee 56 Crystal Springs 10.
Trojans win the game by a final score of 56-10. Magee falls to second in the district.
Magee will play at home for the first round of playoff’s. Magee will host Jefferson County Friday, November 5, 2021. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
Magee moves to a 7-2 record overall and 4-1 in 3A Region 6 on the season.
