A well-attended quarterly meeting of the Simpson County Republican Women was held Monday night, January 27, 2025, at Jose’s Restaurant in Magee.

Senator Jeff Tate was the guest speaker.  He represents District 33, including Clarke and Lauderdale counties, in the Mississippi State Senate.

Jeff Tate was born in Meridian, Mississippi and is married to Leigha Barnard. The Tates have two children, Caroline and Ella. The family is part of the Oak Grove Baptist Church community.

Tate began his political career as an Election Commissioner in Lauderdale County, Mississippi, a position he held from 2009 to 2019. In 2019, he decided to run for election to the 33rd district’s seat in the Mississippi State Senate. Tate’s campaign was successful, and he assumed office on January 7, 2020. He ran for re-election in 2023 and won, ensuring his term would continue until January 4, 2028.

Throughout his tenure, Tate has served on several Senate committees. These include the Elections Committee, which he chairs, as well as the Appropriations, County Affairs, Environment Protection, Conservation and Water Resources, Forestry, Labor, Local and Private, and Technology committees.

 

Jeff announced he will be running for Secretary of State.
