The Scriptural passage chosen for today is taken from Matthew 6:33: “Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” As is the case in much of the New Testament, the apostle is addressing the early Christians with the needed assurance and encouragement to keep them on the right path. They were urged to follow the precepts Jesus had laid down during His ministry and not to do so with expectations of God’s manifold blessings. Those will naturally come as a kind of byproduct. God will take care of all needs if they work to help expand His kingdom here on earth and devote their lives to Him. Today, this lesson still applies to all Christian converts and believers. Let us not be slack in our study of God’s Word and in our prayer life to help keep us on the right path. We must be diligent just as the early Christians were by putting on the full armor of God so we can withstand the slings and arrows of the devil and thereby claim the victory through Christ Jesus.
