Mark and Angel Brister, owners of the Magee Sears Home Town Store, hosted a Ribbon Cutting Friday, February 23rd at 10:00AM. People always ask me, “what is a ribbon cutting?” A ribbon cutting in Magee is a symbol denoting membership in the Chamber of Commerce. For years, the Chamber has promoted and recognized new and existing businesses in Magee with a “Ribbon Cutting.”  Sometimes, a ribbon cutting is held immediately when a business opens or held at a later more convent date.

Although Mark and Angel purchased the Sears Store at the end of August, the couple opted to wait 6 months before the official event.

Mark and Angel hit the road running when the “switch” took place. I don’t think they’ve had time to even catch a breath!

Sears is a family affair for the Bristers. Children Kyle and Allie work almost everyday. Although daughter Diana is a nurse with Camilla Health Care, she will gladly sell you any item in the store! Michael Allan and LeAnna Bryant complete the Sears family.

A large group of family and friends were on hand for Friday’s event. Uncle Jimmy, former Mayor Jimmy Clyde and uncle to Angel) opened the ceremony with prayer. Following the cutting of the ribbon, everyone enjoyed delicious refreshments.

Chamber President Ian Cowart, president-elect LauraLyn Barr, plus members of the Chamber Board of Directors and Chamber members along with a large gathering of friends enjoyed the time of fellowship and congratulations!

Upon retirement from the military, Mark and Angel made the decision to enter the retail world! Thanks to the Bristers for choosing to operate a local business as a part of their life.
