At Simpson County Technical Center (SCTC), students are offered opportunities to participate in Work-Based Learning (WBL), an effective teaching approach used to engage students in real-life occupational experiences, allowing them to connect the knowledge and skills learned in class to the workplace.
Recently, SCTC enrolled in the health science program got a chance to participate in WBL during a visit from registered nurses in the community: Lisa Hankins, Teresa Windham, Meg Sartin and Beth Hollinsworth. These nurses evaluated student’s effective demonstration of reading and recording vital signs. By participating in this WBL, students were able to engage and interact with industry professionals while learning to demonstrate essential employability and technical skills necessary for today’s workforce.
SCTC’S health science program is under the instruction of Brenda White.
