Simpson County Technical Center’s Agricultural & Natural Resource, Metal Fabrication & Diesel Technology students toured Stribling Equipment and Empire Truck Sales on September 23, 2021. As students walked through the two businesses guides talked about the products they sale and about the technologies integrated into each one. They also discussed the many different jobs within the two companies and the pathways to each.
They were informed that most of their employees have two-year degrees and that the MS Community College system is a great value and pathway to reach with very little cost and a great return on investment. Stories were shared about employees and where they started in the two businesses, as well as where they have advanced to today. As students entered the front doors, they talked about the customers being the number 1 person to come through their doors. They also talked about the importance of soft skills and qualities they look for when interviewing potential candidates. Kudos to tour guides Brent Johnson and Michael Wooley from Empire Truck Sales and Chris Bates and Todd Martin from Stribling Equipment for making this trip worthwhile students!
