Simpson County Technical Center Tours McNeely Plastics
Polymer Science students enjoyed a trip to McNeely Plastics in Clinton on November 30th, . McNeely Plastics is a vertically integrated flexible packaging company that manufactures plastic films and bags for a wide variety of industries. Students learned that plastics are all around us and that they are extremely versatile materials that can be manufactured to have a range of different properties. This allows us to use them for almost any application. Students were enlightened with a presentation on the history of plastics and how they came to play a central role in our lives. The science behind some of the unique properties of plastics and current research into developing the smart polymers of the future were also explained.
