SCTC Students Headed to SkillsUSA State Competition

Simpson County Technical Center (SCTC) students represented well during the Regional SkillsUSA competition at the Copiah-Lincoln Community College, Wesson Campus on Jan. 24.

SCTC students enrolled in the Construction and Carpentry program earned medals in the Carpentry and Construction Teamworks events. Medals were presented to

·         Aaron Batton, who won 1st Place Gold for Carpentry; and

·         Hunter Booth, Lane Shows, Allison Shows and Gage Kemp, who won 2nd Place Silver for Construction Teamworks

These students will advance to the state event in March to represent their respective career and technology education (CTE) program.

SkillsUSA competitions showcase CTE students, involve industry professionals in evaluating student performance and help to train students for workforce needs. Students compete locally and continue through both the state and national levels.

SCTC’s Construction and Carpentry program is under the instruction of Maurice Bryant.
