Students enrolled in the Law and Public Safety class at Simpson County Technical Center recently toured the Central Mississippi Correctional Facility (CMFC) in Pearl.
During the tour, students learned about the facility, correctional practices, programs and operations involved in operating a correctional facility. They also viewed the Youthful Offender Unit (YOU) and heard from young offenders about what led to their incarceration and how important it is to stay in school and make better life choices.
In the end, students learned about many different career choices within a prison system.
