Health Science students at Simpson County Technical Center (SCTC) were recently afforded an opportunity to earn certification in Basic Life Support, under the direction of representatives from the American Heart Association.
To be certified, SCTC Health Science students learned how to save a life by participating in the Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training, an emergency lifesaving technique that’s useful in many emergencies in which someone’s breathing or heartbeat has stopped. They also learned how to recognize and respond to an opioid overdose — a major societal issue — in which naloxone is administered and CPR is performed.
SCTC appreciates Clay and Renee McPherson, from the American Heart Association, for training our students on these important life skills.
