Simpson County Technical Center is featuring its Health Informatics program. Health Informatics is one of the popular degree programs within the Healthcare Management System.  It includes the integration of healthcare sciences, computer sciences, information science, cognitive science and information technology to assist in the management of healthcare information.   Informatics deals with the resources, devices and methods to utilize acquisition, storage, retrieval, and use of information in health and medicine. Tools include medical terminology, information and communication systems and computer technology. Healthcare informatics provides electronic access to medical records for patients, doctors, nurses, hospital administrators, insurance companies and heath information technicians. Students are shown completing a lab assignment to determine blood type. Patrice, wife of Greg Boykin & mother of two sons, Bradley & Alex, is a Magee hometown girl. Patrice is retiring after 25 years in the insurance industry and 23 of those years were with State Farm Insurance in Magee. She is very active in the community serving as Secretary for the Magee Touchdown Club and Vice President of the MS Scholars of Simpson County. Multiple times, Patrice was named Parent of the Year for Magee Schools as well as District Parent of the Year. Patrice & her family are members of New Hope Baptist Church.
