SCTC Features Diesel Service Technology Program
Simpson County Technical Center is proud to feature its Diesel Service Technology Program, an instructional and hands-on program that provides students with competencies required to maintain and repair a variety of industrial diesel equipment, including agricultural tractors, commercial trucks, and construction equipment. The program includes instruction in inspection, repair, and maintenance of engines, power trains, hydraulic systems, and other components.
Diesel Service Technician is a pathway for students in the transportation career cluster. This pathway is designed for students who wish to diagnose and repair the systems and components related to diesel engines. The pathway emphasizes the techniques and tools used in servicing diesel systems and components. Both theoretical learning and activity-based learning are provided for students who wish to develop and enhance their competencies and skills. The courses focus on the basic areas of diesel engine components, electrical and electronic systems, and hydraulics.
Students enrolled in this program have the option of joining SkillsUSA, the student organization for career and technical students. Through SkillsUSA membership, students have the opportunity to showcase skills learned at various competitions at the district, state, and national levels. Alan Sanders is the instructor for this class. Pictured, in a lab-based assignment, are year-two students rebuilding a diesel engine.
