Simpson County School District’s (SCSD) superintendent, Dr. Paul Lawrence, was recently the guest speaker at a prayer breakfast held at the Disciples of Christ Fellowship Center in Mendenhall. The breakfast was sponsored by the SCSD Board of Education.
On Sept. 24, community members and local pastors gathered to hear Lawrence give a speech regarding his vision for the district — “One Simpson County.” This vision emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration within the district and across the community.
In his speech, Lawrence outlined his vision for a school district where all students have access to a high-quality education and the skills they need to succeed in the 21st-century workforce. He also welcomed support from Simpson County’s faith-based community.
During the breakfast, the School Board also honored Dr. Dewayne Middleton, the ninth president of Copiah-Lincoln Community College, with a resolution recognizing his contributions and accomplishments. In his remarks, Middleton spoke about Co-Lin’s commitment to supporting Simpson County students, Lawrence’s vision for SCSD, and the school district as a whole.
