Simpson County School District (SCSD) is proud to announce its District-Level Parent of the Year, Teacher of the Year and Administrator of the Year for the 2023-2024 School Year.

A Master Teacher of Economics, Durr is recognized as a leader in Mississippi’s economic development thanks to her in-depth knowledge of basic and advanced-level economic concepts. She was also the recipient of the Senator Thad Cochran Teacher of the Year for Personal Finance Award. Currently, she is pursuing a Doctor of Education from Arkansas State University.

As the district-level honorees, Chapin, Durr and Brumfield will have an opportunity to contend for state-level recognitions against other parents, teachers and administrators throughout Mississippi.

“The district is very honored to have teachers, administrators and parents who go above and beyond to serve our students with excellence daily,” said Dr. Furlinda Travis, assistant superintendent of human resources and operations. “We congratulate our finalists who continue to show amazing leadership, dedication, and commitment to the students of Simpson County School District.”
