SCS Teachers Prepare for Upcoming State Assessment

Last week, Mrs. Shelley Rutland, a Consultant from the Mississippi Writing Thinking Institute, met with Simpson Central English-Language Arts teachers, Melinda Berry, Shelly Kemp, Stacey Davis, Amanda Tindell, and Amy People’s . Together Mrs. Rutland and the SCS Teachers, discussed the mock writing assessment, scoring, and future steps for strengthening the students writing in third, fourth, and fifth grades. This was one of several meetings Mrs. Rutland has had with teachers at SCS this school year with the goal of Improving students’ writing skills in addition to ensuring our students are prepared for the upcoming state assessment. Consulting fees for Mrs. Rutland are provided through the school’s and district’s Title I federal funds.
