SCS Students Win Awards and Take on Leadership Role at State Beta Club Convention

The Simpson Central School (SCS) Beta Club represented their school and district well during the Mississippi Junior Beta Club Convention in Biloxi on March 7-0. SCS Beta Club had 28 members to compete in the statewide competition.

The SCS Robotics Team members (from left to right) Harmonie Lofton, Maggie Hudson, Katie Bairfield, Addison Straut, Austin Floyd, Dylan Coleman, Jamarian Taylor, and John Straut win third place in Junior Robotic competition.

Competing in a wide variety of academic and team events, the SCS Robotics Team placed third in Junior Robotics and SCS Beta Club member and fifth grader Fletcher Jenkins placed fourth in Elementary Woodworking.

Elected to a leadership position, SCS Beta Club member and seventh grader Nathaniel Little was named state secretary for the Mississippi Junior Beta Club for the upcoming school year. In addition to carrying out the responsibilities of attending surrounding state conventions and assisting with the state convention next year, Little was awarded an all-expense paid trip to attend a leadership camp in Greenville, Tenn., in July.

SCS Beta Club member and seventh-grade student Nathaniel Jenkins elected as secretary of state for the Mississippi Junior Beta Club.

According to SCS Beta Club sponsors Abigail Myers and Amber Young, the club is extremely proud of Little.

“We know that Nathaniel will represent Simpson Central and Simpson County School District well during his term as state secretary,” said Myers and Young.

SCS Beta Club members attending the state convention included: Katie Bairfield, Conner Cockrell, Dylan Coleman, Endia Feazell, Austin Floyd, Garnet Gary, Takiah Gilmore, Presley Hamrick, Layla Hankins, Madelyn Hudson, Maggie Hudson, Fletcher Jenkins, Elissa Knight, Nathaniel Little, Harmonie Lofton, Spencer Myers, Cooper Neely, Kami Patrick, Janiya Randolph, Gracie Snell, Kae’Lynn Sterling, Kelsey Stewart, and Addison Straut, John Straut, Jamarian Taylor, Addisyn Woodall, and Jayden Young.
