The Simpson Central School (SCS) Beta Club recently attended the 32nd Annual Elementary/Junior Beta Convention, held in Biloxi, Feb. 21-23. Gathering among Beta Club members from across the state, SCS students competed in a variety of academic competitions, in addition to talent, visual arts and club competitions.

SCS students worked extremely hard and received several awards in the following competitive events:

·      Robotics, Second Place: Jamarian Taylor, John Straut, Addison Straut, Layla Hankins, Katie Bairfield, and Harmonie Lofton

·      Solo Instrumentalist, Second Place: Lydia Booth

·      Onsite Drawing, Fifth Place: Fary Kirkland

·      Digital Art, Fifth Place: Khloe Blair

SCS Beta Club President, Nathaniel Little, also represented Simpson Central as the Mississippi Beta Club Junior Secretary. He helped conduct the convention and gave a keynote address.

SCS Beta Club sponsors Abigail Myers and Amber Young are incredibly proud of their student members and all of their achievements.

“This event could not have been possible without the dedication of the students and the support of their parents,” they said.
