America has been honoring brilliant students through honor societies since 1921. Under the guidance of Eric Williams, teacher and coach at Magee High School, MHS now has a Science National Honor Society!
SNHS is a prominent scientific organization that will engender a new group of young thinkers who will be the future of industry, research, and scientific exploration for Simpson County. SNHS is not directly affiliated with the National Honor Society but we do maintain a cordial and professional relationship with that organization. It took Eric two years to get this chapter started.
“The main reason I wanted to start this organization was to provide students opportunity to enhance the County image with soon to be future doctors, engineers, or scientists on the local level. Also, it provides students with a sense of security in knowing that someone cares for their career choice in medicine or engineering while they’re matriculating at Magee High. This is not my only stop! I plan to get this organization started in Mendenhall as well, “stated Williams.
After two years working to complete all necessary requirements, Eric finally established a new Chapter in Simpson County. Magee High School is the first county school to have a SNHS chapter.
