The monthly School board meeting was held Thursday November 12, 2015.

Meeting was called to order followed by Prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance.

Mr. Robert Sanders was recognized as the Administrator of the Year. Some students from Mendenhall’s Band were recognized along with their band director for the great job they have done this year.

Mendenhall High School requested permission to use Collins Civic Center as location for 2016 Prom.

  2. Employ Alice Singley as a Science Teacher, replacing Dwanda Moseley, at Magee High A(1 year) effective 10/12/2015-06/30/2016.
  3. Employ Carla Lawrence as an Elementary Teacher, new position, at Magee Elementary A(9 years) effective 10-15.2015 – 06/30-2016.
  4. Employ Joanna Hillman as an Elementary Teacher, replacing Alicia Ainsworth, at Magee Elementary A (9 years) effective 10-15-2015-06/30/2016.

  1. Accept the termination of Me-Gyn, Bus Driver, at Magee High, effective 10/22/2015.
  2. Accept the resignation of Theresa McAfee, Bus driver, At Mendenhall high effective 10/20/2015.
  3. Accept the resignation of Dick Wendt, bus driver only, at Magee High effective 10/30/2015.
  4. Accept the retirement of Elaunda Rushing, Speech Pathologist, at Magee Elementary effective 10/31/2015.
  5. Accept the retirement of Larry Chavis, Teacher at Mendenhall high effective 12/18/2015.
  6. Clay Purvis, teacher at Mendenhall High, Submitted a letter of resignation effective November 1m 2015.
  7. Accept the resignation of Greg Paes, Principal, at the Achievement Center effective 12/31/2015. Mr. Paes, effective 01/01/2016, is the new Superintendent of Simpson County Schools.

  3. Christy Rivera was approved on the July 30, 2015 HR Report, as an Elementary Teacher, at Magee Elementary. A (7 years).

 

Travel Agenda approved for Michelle Magee, Jennifer Curlee, Cleveland Jackson, Avery Durr, Sara Worrell and Lauren Hayes requested permission to attend the Ron Clark Academy, January 14-16 in Atlanta, Ga. TIF Funds will be used.

The presentation was given of the proposed Magee Elementary Campus Floor Plan.

Glenn Harris discussed the possibility of retiring the Walley Beech Trophy given between Magee and Mendenhall each year and replacing it with a new one title Simpson County Superbowl. The board tabled this until they could get input from each schools buster club.
