Schaub Receives Alumna of the Year from Alma Mater
Dr. Mary Schaub, assistant professor in the Department of Speech and Hearing Sciences at The University of Southern Mississippi, has been awarded 2016 Alumna of the Year from her alma mater, the University of Wyoming.
“I am honored to be selected as Alumna of the Year for the Division of Communication Disorders at the University of Wyoming,” said Schaub. “It is especially gratifying to be recognized by peers and of course by the University where I was trained.”
Each year the Division of Communication Disorders at the University of Wyoming (UW) selects a graduate who has made significant contributions to the fields of speech-language pathology or audiology. Schaub will be recognized at the College of Health Sciences Alumni of the Year Reception during UW’s 2016 Homecoming Week.
“At the University of Wyoming, we are very proud of Ms. Schaub’s accomplishments over the years,” said Dr. Mark Guiberson, director of UW’s Division of Communication Disorders. “She’s had a very successful career, and it all began here as a clinical supervisor the University of Wyoming in the summers of 1971 and 1972. Ms. Schaub joins a small group of distinguished alumni who have made a big impact in the field by teaching and mentoring students in speech –language pathology. ”
Schaub specializes in the treatment of adults, infants and children with severe to profound communication disorders. She developed and was the original director of The Children’s Center for Communication and Development at Southern Miss. Schaub currently teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses, is a clinical supervisor, and serves as coordinator for placement of graduate interns in speech-language pathology. She also serves as a speech-language pathology consultant to Millcreek Rehabilitation Centers and Ellisville State School.
