JCJC announces Homecoming Court 2015

Jones County Junior College announces its 2015 Homecoming Court. Elections were held in September and students chose the following ladies to represent them during Homecoming.

Queen: Molly McCool of Magee is an occupational therapy major. At JCJC, she is the secretary of the Student Government Association and is a leader in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, where McCool assists with fundraising. In high school, she was a member of the volleyball and soccer teams, and she was the captain of the cheerleader squad, as well as captain of the softball team. She also managed to find time to be a member of Beta club, FBLA, FCA and a student government officer. McCool graduated with High Honors. After Jones, she plans to attend Occupational Therapy School at the University of Mississippi Medical Center and eventually open her own clinic. Roger and Amy McCool are Molly’s parents.

Escorting McCool will be Michael Windham of Seminary. The exercise science major is involved with the Student Government Association and he is a member of the Charles Pickering Honors Institute. The sophomore plans to graduate from JCJC and earn his bachelor’s degree in physical therapy. Kim and Mary Windham are Michael’s parents.

Student Body Maid: Lindsey Walker in majoring in social work. The Waynesboro native is a member of the JCJC concert choir, Baptist Student Union, a Diamond Girl, a “Bleacher Creature,” and she is involved in the SGA leadership. While a freshman at Jones, Lindsey was voted Freshman Class Favorite and received four Foundation Scholarships. Her future plans include transferring to Mississippi State University with aspirations of becoming a social worker. Her parents are Mike and Lisa Walker.

Escorting Walker is Charles Funderburk of Hattiesburg. The history major is a member of the JCJC College Republicans and SGA. His future plans include graduating from Jones and finishing at MSU to hopefully become a high school history teacher and basketball coach. His parents are Chuck Funderburk and Kim Braddock.

Sophomore Maid: Soso native, Jae Hinton is majoring in business management and administration. Her JCJC activities include being a member of the JCJC Historical Society, Phi Beta Lambda business honor society and a “Bleacher Creature.” Hinton was a member of the 2014 Dance USA’s American Dance Team, earning a World Championship. Her future plans include furthering her education at USM while also teaching elementary through high school student’s dance lessons with the goal of opening her own dance studio. Scott and Crystel Hinton are Jae’s parents.

Hinton’s escort is her younger brother, Broc Hinton of Soso. He is a student worker for the chemistry department at JCJC and is a member of the JCJC Historical Society and the BSU. Hinton and his dad, have coached youth baseball at Merchants Park for the last several years. The freshman biology major hopes to transfer to Mississippi College and pursue a master of science in medicine to become a physician’s assistant. He also plans to continue to do mission work. Broc’s parents are Scott and Crystel Hinton.

Sophomore Maid: Alden Swindle of Ellisville is an elementary education major. At JCJC, she is a member of the Maroon Typhoon color guard, Bobcat Brigade, Phi Theta Kappa international honor society, SGA and Sigma Delta Kappa English Honor Society. Her future plans include finishing her education at Mississippi State with ambitions to teach kindergarten or first grade. Alden would also like to pursue a master’s in Library Science. Her parents are Jay and Lynn Swindle.

Swindle’s escort is Matthew Ishee of Laurel. The pre-vet major is busy at JCJC as a member of the Bobcat Brigade, PTK and he is the Vice President of the Student Government Association. Ishee’s future plans include continuing his education at MSU. Mark and Shannon Ishee are Matthew’s parents.

Freshman Maid: Carsyn Arender of Raleigh is majoring in nutrition. At Jones, Arender is a member of the Touch of Gold dance team and SGA. Her future plans are to graduate from JCJC then further her education at Southern Miss. Some of Carsyn’s high school honors include being a Mississippi Scholar, and member of the Hall of Fame, student council and Beta club. She was also voted as Vice President of her senior class and Homecoming Queen. Carsyn’s parents are Jamie and Connie Arender.

Arender’s escort is Austin Herrington from Ellisville. The coaching education major is a member of the JCJC men’s soccer team and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. His future plans include continuing his education at the University of Southern Mississippi to pursue a career in coaching. Mark and Priscilla are Austin’s parents.

Freshman Maid: Kayte Avera is undecided on her major. The Laurel native was busy at Northeast Jones High School as a member of the Beta Club, cheerleading, drama club and yearbook staff. She was honored as Miss Northeast Jones, Most Beautiful and Kayte was included in the Hall of Fame. At JCJC, Avera is a member of the Touch of Gold dance team, SGA and FCA. Her future plans include graduating from JCJC and transferring to a University. Chris Avera and Tanya Skipper are Kayte’s parents.

Kayte’s escort is Devin Stringer from Stringer. The athletic training major is a member of the SGA and Bobcat Brigade while also working with the football team. Stringer’s future plans include earning his degree and transferring to USM. Robbie and Chantal Stringer are Devin’s parents.

The JCJC Homecoming court will also have represented as the flower girl, Whitney Grace Donald. The eight-year old is in second grade at South Jones Elementary School and is the daughter of Chad and Brooke Donald. Andrae’ Khol Maddox is a kindergartener at Oak Grove Primary School and will serve as crown bearer for the 2015 Homecoming Court. The five-year old is the son of Anthony and Deidre Maddox.
